Under FCC rules, emergency calling is on by default and can’t be turned off. It bypasses every parent-set restriction — school hours, quiet hours, or anything else you’ve set.

The moment a call connects, the Waffle Hub sends you a push notification with the time, the registered service address, and that 911 was called. It’s sent in parallel with the call, so it never delays your child reaching the operator.

Registered location

You must provide a valid physical service address during setup and keep it current in the Waffle Parent Hub. 911 calls route to the Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) for that address. If it is wrong or out of date, your call may be misrouted or responders may be sent to the wrong location.

Power and internet outages

Waffle needs both power and a working internet connection to call 911. Waffle Home uses WiFi only and will not call 911 during a power outage, internet outage, or WiFi failure. Unlike a traditional landline, there is no battery backup that keeps the device working during an outage.

Reliance on third-party routing

911 calls are transmitted over the internet and routed to the appropriate PSAP by third-party emergency-routing providers. Waffle relies on these providers and does not control whether or how a call is connected or routed. This service may operate differently from traditional 911.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Waffle disclaims all liability for any failure, delay, misrouting, or unavailability of 911 calling, or for any loss, injury, or harm arising from it. Waffle is a communication device, not a substitute for a mobile or landline phone. Always keep a working phone available.
